  • Tech Facts: We've all seen the TV commercials about companies claiming to have the fastest dialup speeds. The FCC has limited the maximum connection rate at 53k in the U.S. You'll generally connect at 40 - 50k so faster dialup at this time is just not mathematically or legally possible..
     
  • Does your computer run all time?

    Decrease loading time by leaving Internet explorer open, with pages you like,
    4 or more will not hurt any thing on most newer systems,
    Just click the minus up in the corner and open another program.
    Leave them open for days, just make sure you still disconnect. So you don't tie up the lines.

     
  • Should you clear the
    temporary internet files?
     The purpose of these files is so you don't have to download web graphics every time you goto a site. This will store small files on your system so pages you open often will load much faster, as you will not have to download them again and again.
    You can test this yourself, Just open your favorite page. after the page loads goto tools, internet options, and click on delete files, after a few seconds you will be able to click ok.
    Then reload that same page, it will load much slower the first time, as you will no longer have files stored on your system, reload it a 3rd time and the page should load quickly as your system will now already have most of the graphics.
     
  • Computer just not working correctly?
    Restart the computer
    Then close all programs you do not need down by the clock.
    Just right click, then click close or exit.
    Not all programs have this option.
    There maybe preferences that may stop this program from starting with your computer    .
  • Want to print just a small section of a page? Just select it then click file and then print, make sure to check the box for selection.
 
  • If you see  page cannot be displayed  in your browser . Many times there may lag on the Internet and that could cause the browser to time out.  So just Hit the F5 Key or the Refresh button to reload that page.
 
  • To run scandisk, goto My Computer and then right click on C drive then hit properties, then click tools, then choose error checking
 
  • Some times just turning off the computer and coming back a few hours later may help you and the computer get along together
 
 
  • If the computer is giving you fits, try to restart the computer to fix the problem
 
  • by Holding the Ctrl and the Alt Key  at the same time and Hitting the Delete Key will let you force a program to close in windows.
 
  • Restarting the computer often times will fix many problems with windows PCs.
 
  • How can i stop a virus?
 
1. Do not open attachments in any email.
2. Get a virus program and keep up with the updates.
